Pakotec Introduces PluginPlay Plugin Subscription Service

Growing list of product offerings currently includes 39 integrated plugins from Killohearts and D16 Group with additional manufacturers in the works.

Pakotec co-founder and CEO, Roman Weinstein, announces the PluginPlay platform with integrated plugins from Killohearts and D16 Group. In addition, several other companies are in the process of adding to the growing list of product offerings. As of now, the app offers 39 plugins for subscription with a purchase option to become available soon.

PluginPlay works with any music software (DAW). The beta version of the platform is available for Windows with a Mac OS-compatible version scheduled for release in late August.

“I created PluginPlay for my own use, because I wanted to organize all my plugins in one place. I hated having different accounts with different companies, different serial numbers and different activation systems,” states Weinstein. “I didn’t want to pirate the plugins, but I often felt I was paying too much for tools that I was barely using or just wanted to experiment with or try for a specific project.”

Many VST plugins and virtual instruments are necessary for modern music production, mixing and mastering. However, despite the high cost of these tools, most artists prefer to own, rather than rent them. Many others unfortunately resort to software piracy to acquire them.

The vast majority of users feel more secure making a onetime payment than managing and keeping track of ongoing monthly payments for the many different tools required by their trade. PluginPlay seeks to offer small-scale music producers that sense of security through multiple subscription options and an easier way to manage them.

“The PluginPlay application offers a versatile and flexible plugin subscription model, which is sensitive to the needs and work patterns of small scale 21st century music producers,” says Weinstein. “Ultimately, we aim to be the standard application of every music producer.”

In addition to the traditional monthly and yearly subscriptions, PluginPlay offers a weekly subscription, a period Weinstein feels is more suited to most projects made by amateurs and semi-pros that are working on music for a few hours a week.

“Subscription is a great solution because it gives me the option to discover new instruments without the fear of losing money right away. In general, a plugin’s life cycle is approximately 18 months. Yes, there are people who use a specific tool for more than a year, but most of our target market changes their plugins every few months.”

PluginPlay subscription platform offers:

— Instead of trial versions, any user can use up to ten monthly hours of any plugin marketed through the platform free of charge.
— The cost for subscriptions of new plugins from the same manufacturer will drop with every new plugin subscribed to, promoting customer loyalty.
— All plugins and subscriptions are managed from one account. There is no need for any serial numbers or extensive activation procedures. The activation process happens behind the scenes to make the experience fast and smooth.
