OCA Alliance To Demonstrate AES70 At InfoComm 2016

The Open Control Architecture Alliance (OCA) will be exhibiting in the US for the first time since ratification of OCA by the Audio Engineering Society as the AES70 standard, at InfoComm 2016.

The OCA Alliance will be demonstrating the latest technology developments on booth #C11246. The live AES70 demonstration will include products from Bosch Communications, d&b audiotechnik, Focusrite and Beckhoff Automation, as well as new technologies available from the OCA Alliance. Included will be software tools and hardware reference designs from OCA Alliance member companies.

The alliance also welcomes new member DeusO, specializing in GUI and web-based interfaces for professional systems. Most recently, DeusO has created OCA.js, a pure JavaScript implementation of an OCA controller library, currently available on GitHub.

A further significant addition to this year’s OCA Alliance InfoComm demonstration is the inclusion of products from Beckhoff Automation. Beckhoff in the automation and building sector, introduced its first OCA (AES70) implementation at ISE earlier this year. PC-based control technology from Beckhoff enables integration of media technology, lighting control, building automation and control logic. The scalable automation platform offers all relevant interfaces for integrating AV multimedia and lighting systems.

Michel Matuschke, Market manager Stage and Show Technology at Beckhoff, states, “The OCA implementation went very smoothly. We like the high technical quality of the standard and the ease of implementation. Our modular system is now even more flexible as a result and also allows remote control and operation of professional audio systems, as well as the integration of our over 400 types of signals into the OCA world.”

Commenting on behalf of the OCA Alliance, Ethan Wetzell, Engineering Core Platform strategist at Bosch, notes “2016 has been a very significant year for Open Control Architecture. The ratification of the standard as AES70, at the beginning of the year, was a major milestone for OCA and has set the stage for a whole new period of evolution for the industry.

“The resources that are available to the industry to enable OCA adoption are rapidly expanding with the work of DeusO and other alliance members, and we are thrilled that companies like Beckhoff have seen the potential of AES70 and implemented it into their product. This speaks to the openness, flexibility, and power of OCA/AES70 and we are thrilled to be able to demonstrate this to the industry at InfoComm. We invite visitors and exhibitors alike to visit our booth and learn more.”
