NSCA Launches Ignite Program

NSCA announces the launch of its Ignite program, which was unveiled at the 2016 Business & Leadership Conference in Dallas, TX, in February.

Ignite was established to spark interest in young students so they consider a career in the commercial technology industry.

After surveying high school, vocational school, technical school, and four-year college administrators to learn about what appeals to students, the Ignite committee – made up of Kelly Perkins of AVI Systems, Laurie Englert of Milestone AV Technologies, and Mike Shinn of IMS Technology Services – plans to outreach to students about the career potential offered by the industry.

Funded by the NSCA Education Foundation, Ignite has three goals:
1: To raise awareness about the commercial technology industry
2: To clearly explain to students the opportunities available within the industry
3: To take the helplessness out of recruiting for integrators

To meet these goals, Ignite will arm integration firms and consultants with marketing and promotional materials that can be used at job fairs and shared with students and young professionals who are considering a move to the commercial technology industry.

“We’ll give integrators all the tools necessary to target school administrators and interested students at all levels,” says Chuck Wilson, NSCA executive director. “This takes the pressure off of integration firms to market themselves to students and young professionals – we’ll create marketing content for integrators to use to bring students and interested new candidates to them.”

On June 8, the Drunk Unkles will rock Vinyl at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas to raise funds and awareness for Ignite. Download free concert passes at www.drunkunkles.com and help support this new venture.
