Novation has announces the new Launchpad Pro MK3, an upgrade to the Launchpad Pro, the Ableton Live grid controller, combining deep Live integration with a built-in sequencer that can drive any MIDI instrument.
Made for Live, Launchpad Pro is designed to get users closer to the Ableton Live workflow. With dedicated controls for clip and scene launching, transport, quantizing and duplicating, less time can be spent on “mousing” with more time for making music.
Further, on-device access to Live’s Capture MIDI function helps in recovering “happy accidents,” while Dynamic Scale and Note Modes are intended to insure basslines, melodies, chords and leads are in key. Chord Mode lets users explore, build and play sophisticated chords straight from the grid, and Launchpad Pro also knows when the user drumming and shows the drum rack on the grid.
Launchpad Pro is also designed as a powerful MIDI sequencer. It can be configured to control plugins and hardware gear using Novation Components, and then switch instantly between eight Custom Modes. Connect to the studio with MIDI In, Out 1 and Out 2/Thru ports, then sequence hardware and software with the 4-track, 32-step polyphonic sequencer. Chain patterns and scenes to create full songs. Probability and Mutation help keep tracks evolving, while sync rate and play order facilitates performing with patterns on the fly. Micro Steps allows sequences to go off-grid.
Launchpad Pro is bus-powered over USB-C and ships with a production bundle that includes Ableton Live Lite and plugins from XLN, Softube, Klevgrand and AAS, plus a free 2-month Splice Sounds subscription and membership of Sound Collective, Novation’s ongoing program of free plugin sharing. A new Easy Start Tool helps new users up and running quickly with the software they need.
