NEXO STM For Audi Open-Air Classical Festival In Germany

Recent event served by largest deployment of STM M28 compact main modules to date, 48 in total.

NEXO STM Series modular line arrays were deployed to serve a classical music audience at the Audi Art Experience in Germany.

Rental company SHOWEM Veranstaltungstechnik GmbH presented a unique design of the modular system, including the largest deployment of STM M28 compact main modules to date, 48 in total.

More than 20,000 people gathered together in the Klenzepark, the heart of the city of Ingolstadt for this year’s classic concert. The main event featured the KlangVerwaltung Orchestra, conducted by Kent Nagano, and supported by Farao Studios and Trust Your Ears.

The program of Beethoven, which featured solo pianist Mari Kodama, was followed by Peter Sadlo’s percussion ensemble. On the second evening, Audi’s own employees performed in an orchestral ensemble.

SHOWEM, a leading supplier of NEXO systems in Germany, used the modular STM Series cabinets to build the main PA and delay lines, joined by GEO Series loudspeakers for center and side fills as well as delay.

Main arrays were comprised of 12 STM M28s, which have injection-moulded 2-way cabinets providing 90 degrees of horizontal dispersion. Above these in the line were three STM B112 cabinets, each with a 12-inch driver (with 4-inch voice coil) in its hybrid horn-loaded design. Behind the slim arrays were flown subs, six STM S118 units on each side.

With a very wide audience area in the Klenzepark, the main PA arrays were spaced widely, necessitating a center cluster of 10xGEO S8s and side arrays of more GEO cabinets. The first delay array used six B112s with 24 M28 modules, while the second had a single line of nine GEO S8 cabinets.

The flexibility of the STM Series has been expanded by the arrival of the M28 “omnipurpose” cabinet, which can be used on their own as a compact line array, or in conjunction with the B112 bass cabinet to fill in the acoustic gap between M28 and S118 sub. The addition of the B112 modules to the line increases the lo-mid response and improves presence.
