Fostex has announced the first change to its 6301 Series of active monitor loudspeakers in more than 30 years of production, with the line now joined by new 6301N models.
The four new models retain the robust die-cast construction of the current 6301, with new features including a 20-watt class D amplifier, multi-voltage power handling, a detachable power cable, and an energy-saving stand-by mode.
The compact dimensions are almost identical to the current 6301, with the only difference being a decrease in depth, due to the amplifier not needing a heat sink.
Specifically, new models include the 6301NB (unbalanced 1/4-inch phone input), 6301NE (with electrically-balanced XLR input), 6301NX (with transformer-balanced XLR inputs) and 6301ND (with digital AES/EBU input).
At the same time, the mounting adapter, 9610, has been updated in the form of the new EB-6301 which allows rotation of the 6301N even when the cable is inserted.
Fostex will unveil the new 6301N at the NAB 2014 show in Las Vegas at the American Music And Sound booth (#C1462), and shipping will commence in the latter part of this year.
Note that the current 6301 Series will continue to be sold alongside these new models.
