Nelli Matula Tours Finland With Allen & Heath dLive

Finnish singer/songwriter embarks on summer tour with compact dLive C1500 and DM48 MixRack for festivals including Provinssirock and Ruisrock.

With festival season in full swing, Finnish singer/songwriter, Nelli Matula, has embarked on her summer tour, accompanied by a compact Allen & Heath dLive Wings system for both front of house and monitors.

Supplied by HÖG Light & Sound, the tour set-up consists of a dLive C1500 for front of house and a custom dual-touchscreen controller for monitors, both running in multi-surface mode from a single DM48 MixRack. The system also includes a DX168 expander for remote I/O, Dante card, and a Waves3 card for multi-track recording and virtual soundcheck.

Tour manager and front of house engineer, Temi Kinnunen, explains why dLive was an easy choice: “I’m a long-time Allen & Heath user and I’ve been using dLive ever since it was launched. The best feature of dLive is the user interface and the preamp sound.”

Running the touchscreen system with Director software for monitors, Kari Mäkimartti comments, “I decided to adopt the Director software because it enables integration of all other software on one touchscreen computer at the same time. This makes the system compact and really fast to set up.”

He adds, “I can’t think of a situation I can’t handle with dLive. The band, the artist and the dancers are all extremely happy with the sound quality. The desk simply produces an amazing sound and I use the Dyn8 multi-band dynamics processing a lot when I’m mixing.”

The tour covers 16 dates across Finland, including some of the country’s biggest festivals including Provinssirock and Ruisrock.

Mäkimartti, who’s also new to Allen & Heath consoles adds, “I spent a few days familiarizing myself with the dLive family and now I don’t want to give it up. I use the desk all the time and in different configurations – the sound is great and the selection of tools is extensive.”
