Myers Concert Productions Deploys FBT For International Corporate Events

As a company that does live sound, installations and corporate events for notable clients, Myers Concert Productions (Murfreesboro, TN) has a variety of sound systems at its disposal.

Recently, however, DJ Myers, owner, confided that he’s been increasingly working FBT loudspeakers into his touring and corporate inventory.

While he lists cost and sound quality as two reasons for this change, he also says FBT’s Mitus 206la’s are exceptional at meeting the unique challenges that come with servicing corporate clients and tricky venues.

No stranger to high-end productions, Myers has provided sound for Marco Rubio’s campaign speeches and worked with such clients as Nascar, Bush’s Beans, Verizon Wireless, and the University of Tennessee. His company handled the ESPN televised memorial events for NCAA Basketball Coach, Pat Summitt, and large-scale events like Knoxville’s Rhythm and Blooms Festival, and Nashville’s Taste of Music City and Music City Brewers festivals.

Myers latest project, one of two annual international sales meetings he does for the custom clothing company, Tom James, included a complete FBT system – something that Myers said was advantageous for multiple reasons.

“We’re primarily a concert and touring company, but we often collaborate on corporate gigs with our partner company, Springboard Audio/Video,” said Myers. “Corporate event planners want sound systems to be sleek, clean, virtually invisible, and they want them to sound as crystal clear in the back row as they do in the front. FBT speakers are perfect because they’re attractive and provide that clean, clear sound, but they’re also about ten pounds less per box when we set up a rig in a ballroom.

“This is a big advantage when you’re hanging in a hotel or convention center with ceiling weight limits. Shedding 100-150 pounds allows us to add three or four more PA boxes than we used to use, which gives us more control and coverage. They also save us on freight. By shedding several hundred pounds it allows us to add more PA, which gives us the ability to have better coverage and control in the room. All-in-all, we are extremely pleased with the Mitus series boxes for the features and high build quality they provide while still being available at a reasonable cost.”

Grant Brewer of Griffith Sales Associates (the Southeastern territory representatives of FBT) sold the loudspeakers to Myers, and added that exceptional sound was a strong reason for recommending the brand for the company’s corporate work.

“When compared to other speakers in the same price range, and even some at moderately higher ones, FBT really blows them away,” said Brewer. “They offer a higher quality box with B&C components at a very reasonable price point, so it helps a lot to fill in those jobs where you need high quality sound but don’t want to spend a fortune.”

Myers Concert Productions, along with Springboard Audio/Video, will continue doing a variety of corporate work in the future, including national conferences for Regal Cinemas and UT Medical. They’re planning on weaving FBT into those projects, as well as their touring inventory.
