MXL Introduces USB Ribbon Microphone

The UR-1 microphone takes the classic, mellow sound of a ribbon microphone and integrates it with today's USB technology.

MXL Microphones has announced the addition of the UR-1 USB Ribbon Microphone to their existing line of USB microphones.

The UR-1 microphone takes the classic, mellow sound of a ribbon microphone and integrates it with today’s USB technology.

This new mic uses modern electrical circuitry to match the input requirements of analog–to-digital converters and USB output with low-noise and high dynamic range.

“MXL is a well-known and respected microphone manufacturer and we are the first in the industry to combine today’s recording technology with classic microphone design,” states Perry Goldstein, Sales & Marketing Manager at MXL.

“The classic sound of a ribbon microphone is ageless and it will certainly give today’s artists a new dimension to their recordings.”

The UR-1 is housed in an all-metal body with a double-shielded grill. The body was designed with the same vintage look and feel found in microphones used during the age of radio and broadcast television.

A volume control and headphone jack on the unit allow for real-time monitoring without any latency.

The MXL UR-1 will be priced at $499.95 and will be available in June 2011.
