MixOne Strengthens dBTechnologies Partnership To Drive Shows For Live Nation

Orange County, CA-based production company deploying its VIO series arrays for shows at several Live Nation venues in support of concerts by Rise Against, Becky G, Freddie Gibbs and many others.

Orange County, CA-based production company MixOne Sound has been utilizing its dBTechnologies VIO series arrays and supporting components to reinforce a variety of shows at several Live Nation venues, including concerts by Rise Against, Becky G, Freddie Gibbs, Rebelution, Rodney Atkins, Joji, Denzel Curry, Flogging Molly and many others.

“I like that the VIO product line is now robust enough to cover the many different situations I find myself producing events in,” says Pierre Rochman, Live Nation production manager. “I like that it’s light and compact with no footprint thanks to its integrated power and I like its proven reliability.”

Spenser Bishop, owner of MixOne, initially invested in the VIO family in 2018 and has deployed it at events that include iHeart Radio’s 93.3 Summer Kickoff Concert that featured pop artists such as Charlie Puth and 5 Seconds of Summer as well as shows from touring acts Zac Bryan, Rise Against, and A Day to Remember at Gallagher Square in San Diego where the rig included 24 VIO L212 modules for the main hangs, six VIO L210 for frontfills, eight VIO L208 for outfills and 24 VIO 318 subwoofers.

Rochman notes that even though some of the guest engineers had been unfamiliar with the VIO system, the response after the iHeart show was positive: “Everyone was stoked. I received not a single negative comment about systems the entire day. Several artist production managers and engineers went out of their way to find me and praise the MixOne staff.”

Fifteen miles down the road at the Chula Vista North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre, MixOne was tasked with upgrading the venue’s lawn delay system that spans about 105,000 square feet and hosts up to 10,000 people per event. The team elected to install a total of 32 VIO L210 onto the eight towers spread throughout the lawn.

The lawn area of the Chula Vista North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre outfitted with dBTechnologies VIO L210 loudspeakers.

MixOne systems engineer Billy Catlin, who employed dBTechnologies Aurora Net software in his timing and tuning process, states, “The boxes blend right in with whatever the mains are pushing, keeping your dB levels even all the way to the back wall, which is about 600 feet away from the stage. Making sure you don’t lose any intelligibility, and even adding that signature punchy feel you love from those L210s. Those delays have been up for two full seasons now and they’re still going strong. Every attendee in the lawn leaves happy, some even commenting how great the lawn sounds, and that’s really what it’s all about.”

Rochman also credits support from dBTechnologies as a contributor to MixOne’s successful VIO deployments on the Live Nation shows. “As a production manager, I have a promise to fulfill. Expectations on every side of the live concert experience for the artist, the fan and the promoter,” Rochman concludes. “Manufacturer support for a talented young company, with a product that offers solid performance is what makes this successful for all.”
