METAlliance Announces Sommer Cable As Newest Pro Partner

Partner membership limited to companies with ability to manufacture and distribute products meeting organization's qualifications

Sommer Cable is the newest Pro Partner member of the METAlliance (Music Engineering & Technology Alliance).

The METAlliance is comprised of a group of award-winning audio engineers and producers who have been involved in establishing techniques and technical standards that are a foundation of modern music recording. Founders include Chuck Ainlay, Ed Cherney, Frank Filipetti, George Massenburg, Elliot Scheiner, Al Schmitt, and the late Phil Ramone.

Pro Partner membership is limited to companies that have shown the ability to manufacture and distribute products that meet the organization’s professional audio qualifications.

“I’ve never seen such quality, such strength of connectors, and such attention to detail with cables before,” Cherney states. “When I started testing them out, I could tell these guys were really fanatics about their design and manufacture. I appreciate that, because a lot of times the thing that goes bad in the studio is the cable. With Sommer cables, I am confident that that will never happen.”

Filipetti adds, “I’ve been using the Sommer AES digital cables for several weeks now. After putting them through my testing boot camp, they ended up replacing my very high-end digital cables, which to be honest, cost nearly three times as much. What freaked me out was not that they were sonically better than anything else I had here at my studio, The Living Room, but how much better. There really was no comparison. Even more surprising was how amazing the digital AES cables sounded carrying analog signals. Finally a “‘one cable does all’.”

Martin Ucik, CEO of Sommer Cable America, notes “Sommer Cable is excited to be associated with this legendary group of engineers and producers. The METAlliance Pro Partner recognition validates the incredible amount of effort we put into our products.”

Sommer Cable America offers a catalog with over 12,000 products for the A/V installation, pro audio, broadcast, video, music, IT and hi-fi markets. The company’s new Carbokab 225 has a unique conductor smoothing with highly compressed carbon that is directly applied to the concentrically arranged Oxygen Free, Grade 6 Chilean copper strands of each conductor. This provides the same electrical benefits as a solid wire yet the cable stays flexible and guarantees consistent excellent electrical values. The transmission properties of the SC-Carbokab 225 also provide an absolutely linear sound image over long distances of up to 700 feet.

In addition, the Carbokab 225 electrical shielding provides 100 percent optical coverage (aluminum fleece plus copper mesh screen) to prevent interference from peripheral units (effects devices, computers, synthesizers, etc.) that are used in pro studios. For the individual wire insulation, a special HDPP (High Density Polypropylene) material is used to ensure very low capacitance values. The outer Soft-PVC jacket provides flexibility and stability of the cable from minus 25 to plus 70 degrees Celsius (-13 to +158 Fahrenheit) temperatures. Free 1-foot cable samples of the Carbokab are available from Sommer Cable America.
