Meeting Contemporary Expectations

A church system with concert touring capabilities.

It’s safe to say that most churches don’t have a Worship Arts Pastor like Lincoln Brewster.

He’s a noted guitar player who’s toured with Steve Perry (ex of Journey), recorded an album, and has songwriting credits that include popular contemporary Christian songs such as “Let The Praises Ring” and “Today Is The Day.”

A member of Bayside Church in Roseville, CA, for the past 10 years, Brewster has spent the last seven years in his current role, and he recently sought to outfit the 2,100-seat sanctuary at Bayside with a new sound reinforcement system capable of serving the dynamic contemporary worship services and other events hosted by the church.

In moving forward, he relied on the people and equipment that had served him well on the road and in the studio.

Having a long-standing relationship with Spectrum Sound of Nashville, TN, Brewster brought them in to take the point position in implementing the new system.

His preference was d&b audiotechnik main loudspeakers for their musicality, which had impressed him when they were used while he was touring with contemporary Christian artists Third Day.

Coverage & Presence
Each array is made up of three d&b C4-TOP mid/high loudspeakers above three C4-SUB single-18 subwoofers, with dual C7-TOP 2-way loudspeakers for down fill joined by another C4-SUB.

A single d&b Q10 2-way loudspeaker (110-degree by 40-degree dispersion with rotatable horn) extends side fill coverage.

More subs reside on the main floor, situated front and center, a combination of d&b B2 dual-18 cabinets joined by two Grund Audio GT-LPB-36CX dual-18 boxes.

Five d&b E8 compact coaxial loudspeakers in horizontal orientation are spread across the stage to provide mid/high fill presence to the first few seating rows, while also helping to anchor the audio image to the stage.

The challenge of further extending coverage to bleacher seating on the extreme sides and rear of the sanctuary are met with d&b Ci60 full-range, 2-way bass-reflex cabinets flown (in low-profile horizontal orientation).

All loudspeakers and subwoofers are driven by d&b D6 and D12 dual-channel power amplifiers incorporating digital signal processors (DSP) that provide all loudspeaker-specific configurations and functions.

All amplifiers are networked, with d&b R1 Remote software – a graphical drag and drop user interface – enabling control of all functions and settings.

All of these functions can also be accessed via the front panel of the amplifiers.
