Stanley, a new Cantonese restaurant on the waterfront of Brisbane, Australia’s Howard Smith Wharves, has complemented head chef Louis Tikaram’s fine mix of locally sourced cuisine with a quality sound reinforcement system throughout that’s headed by Martin Audio CDD series loudspeakers.
The restaurant needed help with designing and implementing a system to deliver balanced audio across the two-story venue, both indoors and out. It also needed a single touch point that would be simple to operate by any member of staff, depending on the atmosphere required, with automatic control to provide specific level adjustments to comply with their license.
The answers to these challenges were provided by locally-based Ampd Electronics, which designed, modeled and confirmed layouts prior to installation in an effort utilizing the CDD (Coaxial Differential Dispersion) series—all under QSC Q-SYS control.
Working with the interior designers they identified the best locations to ensure even coverage while the system’s design complemented the intricate wood paneling that lines the walls and ceilings. A tuning of the system was performed to verify performance quality both inside and out.
Specifically, the system utilizes 11 CDD8 loudspeakers for the interior with 14 weatherized CDD8-WR and six CDD6-WR models for audio when transitioning from inside to outside areas. The IP54-rated outdoor loudspeakers were hidden in the surrounding gardens to maintain the restaurant’s aesthetic and the immersive experience for customers. A further four SX110 (single 10-inch) compact subwoofers provide low-frequency extension where necessary.
Further, models Martin Audio’s ceiling loudspeaker range in the form of 19 C6.8T units and a C8.1T (for the higher ceiling area) loudspeaker continue the experience throughout the ancillary areas such as back hallways and restrooms of the restaurant.
