Martin Audio, which has teamed up with Belair Technology and The Bug Club to deliver an eco-friendly Volkswagen pop-up DJ booth, announced that the vehicle — called the “Unplugged Bug: — will be on hand at the upcoming PLASA Focus Leeds show.

The fiberglass-built vehicle is 30 percent larger than a standard VW camper and is designed to be festival friendly in incorporating a custom-built Martin Audio system running on a Belair rack-mounted Power Tower rechargeable battery system. At PLASA Focus Leeds, it will be stationed in the courtyard between the two halls at the Royal Armouries on May 9-10 to demonstrate sustainable festival technology.

The Martin Audio system, stated to be capable of serving crowds of up to 500, comprises two 15-inch 3-way loudspeakers that are each pole-mounted to a double 15-inch direct radiating subwoofer and working with a DX4.0 loudspeaker controller.

“We’re excited to support the live industry and showcase how live sound events can become more sustainable in the future,” says Justin Rushmore, managing director of The Bug Club. “Our Unplugged Bug has been well-received everywhere it has been, from tradeshows to football matches and we’re looking forward to proving what sustainable festival technology can deliver in Leeds.”

In addition to the Unplugged Bug being on hand, Martin Audio states that it will use PLASA Focus Leeds as an opportunity to take visitors through some of its latest product ranges with the new FlexPoint and expanded TORUS families on display on stand N-C19.

“PLASA Focus Leeds has always been an enjoyable show for us and we’re sure it will be the same again this year,” concludes Martin Audio director of marketing James King. “We’re certain that the Unplugged Bug will be a real hit with visitors this year and we’re delighted to be able to help add to the entertainment that this event always guarantees.”
