Mackie has announced the release of Master Fader v2.0, the primary control app for Mackie DL Series digital mixers.
Now available as a free download, it delivers new features that are a direct result of customer feedback. Because DL Series mixers are completely software controlled from an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, Mackie can add features with a simple app update.
“Master Fader v2.0 is all about increased control and workflow improvement,” states Ben Olswang, Mackie product manager. “We’re very excited to add many of the great features you have been requesting, all at zero cost to the user.”
The new features of Master Fader v2.0 range from small performance and workflow updates to items that will change how the app is used.
New features like input channel and aux send linking are ideal for controlling stereo inputs sources like keyboard or when using in-ear monitors. The addition of mute groups and view groups provides customizable control of the work surface.
Further, the new Quick Access Panel gives instant access to important controls without taking up screen real-estate. Numerous additional navigation enhancements are designed to deliver an intuitive, productive workflow.
Major features of Master Fader v2.0:
& Input channel linking
& Aux send channel linking
& Mute groups
& View groups
& Pre-DSP aux source
& Quick access panel
Further updates include:
& Improved compressor/limiter graph UI
& Option for independent channel aux mute for each aux send
& Main mute
& Other navigation enhancements
& iOS7 Support
Major workflow updates like channel/aux linking and access to mute/view groups also apply to a new version of Mackie’s My Fader control app, built specifically for iPhone and iPod touch. This ensures that on-stage performers mixing their own monitors benefit from these updates and provides a greater level of control for the front of house engineer looking for pocketable control while roaming the venue.
Users are advised to read the full release notes (here) before installing the Master Fader v2.0 update. iOS7 users should be aware that this update could happen automatically depending on their app settings. Mackie has provided information (here) on being prepared for Master Fader v2.0 using iOS7.
