The popular LSI Demo has been presented to thousands of attendees at recent WFX (Worship Facilities) Expos in Dallas and Atlanta, and this opportunity to directly listen to, evaluate, and compare top compact loudspeaker systems is now being offered to design, production, and technology professionals in the performing arts and entertainment industry that comprise the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) membership, as well as audio professionals interested in attending (more on that below).

The demo presents a unique controlled environment demonstration designed to provide side-by-side listening opportunities for attendees to evaluate loudspeaker systems from around the industry, in addition to getting further technical details and pricing information from qualified representatives of each company participating in the demo.

Specifically at USITT, each full demo session will offer two parts: first, a focus on smaller systems, followed by a focus larger systems. In each part, all participating systems are played in a round-robin, random format, supplied with identical audio tracks until the final round, when manufacturers have the opportunity to play their own select track through their systems. Listeners move from system to system, evaluating what they’re hearing and also observing each system’s scale, components and other important details.

Participating loudspeaker manufacturers include:

Alcons Audio
Bose Professional
Electro-Voice
Martin Audio
WorxAudio by PreSonus
Renkus-Heinz
Tannoy
VUE Audiotechnik

Technology sponsors include Audio-Technica (wireless microphone systems), JoeCo (BLACKBOX recorder/playback), Rational Acoustics (Smaart and 10EaZy), and Yamaha Commercial Audio (QL Series console, Rio boxes).

“We’ve presented the loudspeaker demo over the past few years to more than 3,000 church sound and production personnel from around North America at WFX (Worship Facilities Expo), and are very pleased to bring it to the attendees of USITT,” states Kevin McPherson, executive publisher of Live Sound International.

USITT Stage Expo manager Ron Procopio adds that the organization is thrilled to be able to present this audio offering, calling loudspeaker demonstrations a rare commodity.

“It takes a lot of logistical work and expense for the speaker manufacturers and organizers,” Procopio states. “Theatres, concert venues, event spaces, and houses of worship can all benefit by experiencing the different systems available to them in one location. This is the equivalent of having the super store come to you! If your venue is interested in upgrading its audio system, USITT in Cincinnati this March is the place you should visit.”

USITT 2015 in Cincinnati now boasts a record 280 exhibitors, welcoming many companies new or returning after years away. The event will fill some 45,000 square feet of the Duke Energy Convention Center.

USITT is the national non-profit serving the performing arts and live entertainment design and technology community. Its Annual Conference & Stage Expo attracts some 5,000 backstage professionals for networking, training, inspiration, and product resourcing. For more go to www.usittshow.org.
