The new 20-story, 714,000-square-foot Broward County Courthouse currently under construction in downtown Fort Lauderdale will feature 77 courtrooms once it opens later this year.
It will also offer assistive-listening audio in each one of those judicial spaces, with the ListenIR IR systems from Listen Technologies Corporation.
The systems, each consisting of the LT-82-01 Stationary IR Transmitter, an LA-140 Stationary IR Radiator, and LR-44 IR Lanyard 4-Channel Receivers connected to LA-165 stereo headphones, will deliver coverage area up to 30,000 square feet, transmitting focused audio directly to the intended audience — and no one else.
The ListenIR systems were specified for the new Broward County Courthouse by AV systems consultancy Marsh/PMK International, and are being installed by AV systems integrator Pro Sound’s Miami office.

IR keeps the audio contained within each individual space.”
Stearns says the Listen Technologies’ ListenIR solution, which was chosen by the County as part of the bid process and which has been used in other Broward County municipal spaces, offers the best sound of any assistive-listening system on the market.
