Kent State University At Stark Selects API Vision Console

Vintage King outfits Music Technology and Audio Recording programs with 32-channel analog console for new recording studio.

API announces that yet another higher education facility has added an API console to its curriculum. A 32-channel Vision console will become an integral part of the Music Technology program at Kent State University at Stark.

The console is currently in production at API’s headquarters, and is slated for installation later this year. Chris Bolitho of Vintage King was instrumental in the completion of the Vision console sale.

“Kent State University at Stark is pleased to partner with API for a new Vision recording console to be housed in the state-of-the-art music studios in the campus’s Fine Arts Building,” says project manager Richard Lutz. “This technology will enhance the educational opportunities for students in our Music Technology program. It also complements the new recording studio designed to provide real-world, professional experience, while maintaining a focus on educational instruction.”

Ian Anderson, of Kent State University at Stark’s Music Technology and Audio Recording programs, adds, “When word came that our growing music technology program was going to receive two brand new recording studios, I knew that it was time to reach for the brass ring and secure a flagship console for our ‘A’ room.

“From the get-go, it was of paramount importance that I identify a console that will allow us to teach students everything from old-school fully analog inline signal flow to a contemporary hybrid approach employing both DAW control and analog summing and processing, not to mention surround capability and integrated automation. On top of it all, the console needs to be able to withstand the daily punishment that is part and parcel of an academic environment.

“As I began exploring our options, it seemed compromise would be inevitable. But that is not the case with the Vision. Audio quality, build quality, automation, DAW control, recall, surround capability, price, warranty. It’s all there. The API Vision is, quite simply, a console without compromise.”
