Jeeves Audio Services Extends Dante Networking With DiGiCo

Melbourne, Australia-based live and location recording company adds S21 digital console to arsenal for improved workflow and lighter gear packages.

Jeeves Audio Services based in Melbourne, Australia, has invested in the DiGiCo S21 digital console to extend its Dante networking capabilities to support live and location recording services.

“Much of our work is recording classical music” says studio manager Steve Bullock, “and over the last few years we have invested significantly in Dante networked audio. The networked transmission has reduced the amount of copper we carry, and reduced our rigging times. The switch to Focusrite Rednet from our favored ISA pre-amps has resulted in fewer and lighter road cases. And we’re also proud to be using the Australian developed Dante technology from Audinate.

“While we usually mix our recordings back at our studios, there are occasional live to air broadcasts which require a live mix and archival recording.”

The DiGiCo S21 with DMI-Dante card was selected to complement the Dante based network.

“The S21 is overkill for most of our jobs, with many more channels and processing options than we will typically use, but it supports the 96k 24bit resolution of our recordings, and has real faders for those live mixes. Even with the dual touch screens, the S21 is small and light enough to be taken out by a small crew.”
