JBL Professional by HARMAN Introduces PRX800W PA System With Wi-Fi

Series offers wireless app control and versatile operation in a durable, portable design

JBL Professional By HARMAN has introduced the PRX800, a new portable PA system equipped with wireless control and sophisticated DSP for quick set up and configuration from a mobile tablet.

“With the PRX800W family, we’re excited to give bands and DJs more control over their live sound than ever before,” says Craig Lambrecht, Retail & Recording Solutions, HARMAN Professional Solutions. “Users can now shape their sound wirelessly, right from the palm of their hand, ensuring the best possible listening experience for themselves and their audiences. PRX800W is by far our most advanced and powerful portable PA, and represents the next generation in smart live sound reinforcement.”

The PRX Connect mobile app for iOS and Android connects wirelessly to each unit in the system simultaneously, providing control over the DSP built in to each loudspeaker. Processing functions include 8-band parametric EQ, loudspeaker delay, mute, gain, and more. PRX Connect also makes it easier to configure shows offline and save presets for fast future set up.

Audio power is provided by integrated 1,500-watt Class-D amplification, PRX800W is the most powerful and efficient system in its class. JBL Differential Drive™ woofer technology reduces magnet mass while increasing power handling. Updated tuning is designed to provide flat frequency response and smooth off-axis behavior.

The all-wood cabinets have durable tongue-in-groove joints, DuraFlex protective finish and dent-resistant 16-gauge steel grilles. PRX800W systems undergo a stringent testing regimen, including a 100-hour torture test, to ensure peak performance in any real-world environment.

The redesigned Crown input panel offers XLR, 1/4-inch and RCA inputs plus XLR loop-through and professional outputs. dbx Type IV limiting eases the system back to a safe level when any frequency band is in limit.

In addition, an intelligent variable-speed fan cools the system only as needed. PRX800W systems can also be scaled by adding additional loudspeakers, and they are designed to integrate with other JBL powered PA systems.

The JBL PRX800W Series is available in August of 2016. The PRX Connect app will be available via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in August as well.
