House on the Rock Selects Clear-Com For New Rock Cathedral in Lagos

Clear-Com has announced that House on the Rock, a global organization, has installed a FreeSpeak Wireless Intercom System along with an Eclipse HX-Delta Digital Matrix Intercom System in the brand new Rock Cathedral in Lagos, Nigeria.

The newly installed systems are used for regular church services and events including an annual concert that attracts over 500,000 people each year.

Clear-Com’s West African Distributor, Highway Audio Visual, assisted in the system design and drafting of the specifications for the project tender.

The House on the Rock has nineteen churches spread across Europe and Africa, and facilitates thousands of churchgoers every Sunday.

The Rock Cathedral based in Lagos is a multipurpose facility with a total floor area of 32,000m2 and has the largest footprint for a single building in Lagos State seating up to 14,000 people.

The Rock Cathedral will soon house the headquarters of The Rock Foundation and the House On The Rock, which will then accommodate facilities for worship, education, healthcare, community development, reformation training, recreation and social rehabilitation among many other initiatives.

As well as being used in the day-to-day running of The Rock Cathedral, the Clear-Com solution will also play an instrumental part in large events such as the House on the Rock’s annual concert ‘The Experience’. The concert, which attracts over 500,000 people per year, takes place in Lagos and has quickly become the biggest concert in the whole of Africa. The event is comprised of 11 hours of uninterrupted music and worship so the organizers required a robust and reliable intercom system to ensure that the event runs smoothly.

The House on the Rock media team had used Clear-Com equipment previously. The ease of use, reliability and the solid reputation of the brand led the sound technicians to choose Clear-Com over other intercom brands for this new building.

“Having worked with Clear-Com products in the past I was confident that this was the intercom system that would work well for us,” said Kolawole Oladunmoye, administrator, House on the Rock.

“We chose the FreeSpeak and Eclipse HX Delta Digital Matrix due to the reliability scalability that the systems offer, These two traits were key as the intercom system will be used for both The House on the Rock’s day to day activities as well as annual events which differ drastically in size.”

“Equipping a new facility can be stressful, so we are thrilled that we can provide The Rock Cathedral with a robust and reliable solution that will give them peace of mind,” said Richard Palmer, regional sales manager of Clear-Com.

“Our systems will allow the production teams to execute their jobs with confidence due to the reliable nature of FreeSpeak and Eclipse,” he summarized.
