Harman Professional Solutions Unveils New AKG Foldable Studio Headphones

K275, K245 and K175 models offer metal construction of critical components, rigorous stress testing for durability, and replaceable cables.

Harman Professional Solutions has introduced the AKG K275, K245 and K175 foldable studio headphones line.

“Today’s musicians and content creators are frequently on the move, and need headphones that can stand up to their mobile lifestyle,” says Philipp Schuster, product line manager, Harman. “We’ve taken our legendary studio models and made them portable, with a foldable design that allows for easy transport. The new AKG K275, K245 and K175 headphones feature high-quality components that work in harmony to provide optimal fit and great sound—all in a durable form factor that will go the distance with you.”

The K275 and K245 models feature 50mm transducers that provide low-frequency extension and detailed bass reproduction. K175 utilizes an on-ear design with 40mm transducers.

AKG K275, K245 and K175 are the first headphones offer a foldable design made possible through an innovative three-axis hinge and a self-adjusting headband. The foldable design allows the headphones to fit into tight spaces such as travel bags, while also protecting the structural parts from damage. The self-adjusting headband and floating ear cups increase comfort by ensuring the headphones fit correctly with every use. Slow retention foam ear pads provide a comfortable, secure fit that ensures optimal bass extension and prevents sound from leaking out into the surrounding environment.

AKG K275 and K175 feature a closed-back design for live recording and monitoring, while K245 features a semi-open design that is well-suited for editing and mixing.

All the critical parts are metal, including the hinge. An extensive product testing regimen—including extreme drop tests, an 80,000-bend-cycle test for cables, and a rigorous driver stress test—ensures that the headphones will last through heavy use. Additionally, the cable is replaceable to maximize value and investment.

The AKG foldable studio headphones line is expected to be available in July 2017, with pricing as follows:
• K275 closed-back over-ear headphones: $211 (MSRP)
• K245 semi-open over-ear headphones: $186 (MSRP)
• K175 closed-back on-ear headphones: $161 (MSRP)
