Designed to provide intelligible sound for sermons and special events, AV integrator IMS Indonesia recently outfitted GSJA Bandengan Church in Jakarta, Indonesia with a HARMAN Professional Solutions networked audio system that includes JBL loudspeakers, a Soundcraft console and dbx loudspeaker management.
The church hosts a variety of events, including musical performances, children’s prayer conferences and special events, with a sanctuary that has a sprawling ground floor as well as a balcony with extensive seating capacity.
“GSJA Bandengan Church required an upgrade for their existing sound setup,” says Christian Prasetya, brand manager, IMS Indonesia. “Since the church hall is spread out over a fairly large area, the setup had to provide even sound distribution across the worship space. To energize the church services, they needed excellent vocal clarity, reliability and smooth reproduction of sound across all frequencies. To meet these requirements, we chose the JBL VRX series speakers.”
IMS Indonesia equipped the church with JBL VRX932LAP line arrays to supply coverage to all seating both on the ground floor and balcony as well as JBL STX812M loudspeakers as stage monitors. Signals from the stage are fed through a Soundcraft Mini Stagebox 32iEU and connected to a Soundcraft Si Impact digital console via standard Cat-5 cabling.
In order to protect the loudspeakers and provide additional control over audio signals, IMS Indonesia installed a dbx VENU360-V-EU loudspeaker management system, which includes automatic EQ and feedback suppression technology.
“We were seeking a powerful, dynamic audio solution that would allow our sermons and performances to resonate with visitors,” says Jack, a sound engineer at the church. “Due to the religious significance of the events, reliability was our top priority. IMS Indonesia brought events at the GSJA Bandengan Church to life. We are extremely satisfied with the solutions they chose to install, which met every criterion we put forth.”
