GIK Acoustics Debuts Portable Isolation Booth (PIB)

Made of 2-inch thick rigid fiberglass with a wooden face for diffusion and stated absorption down to 150Hz.

GIK Acoustics has announced the debut of a new sound booth: the PIB (Portable Isolation Booth).

The PIB is made of 2-inch thick rigid fiberglass which effectively absorbs down to 150Hz, with large surfaces to catch and absorb more room reflections. The large size also means the PIB surrounds the mic making it more natural for a singer as opposed to singing into a U shaped piece of foam.

Unfolded it acts as a vocal booth; and unlike a mic shield, the PIB extends to 6-foot 6-inches tall x 3-foot 7-inches wide. Folded it is a 4-feet tall x 3-foot 7-inch wide isolation screen that can be used around acoustic instruments

The thin wooden face has stylish cutouts that improve absorption while providing some diffusion. The wood side is ideal for recording and tracking environments as it will diffuse high frequency content across the room, in turn improving the sonic imaging of your tracking or listening environment.

“Our new PIB (Portable Isolation Booth) provides style with function,” said Glenn Kuras, president of GIK Acoustics. “We purposely designed the PIB to be used in a variety of ways and it can be employed as a vocal booth or isolation screen. Best of all, it folds down easily making it easy to move and store when not in use. It really is a do-anything product.”

The PIB (Portable Isolation Booth) is currently available in North America with worldwide rollout expected later in 2016.
