Last year, Bremen, Germany-based service provider AVM Veranstaltungstechnik added a significant number of CODA Audio components to its inventory, including an AiRAY system, SCP-F subwoofers, APS (Arrayable Point Source) loudspeakers, APS-SUB subs, as well as LINUS DSP loudspeaker management amplifiers.

Prior to the pandemic, the company, led by Managing Director Jens Wiegandt, was regularly utilizing these components at events such as the Summertime@Norderney and Tabularazza festivals along with a host of concerts and corporate events. When it came to invest in audio technology again, the AVM team focused on CODA’s N-RAY system, and following a trial at the Sixdays Bremen cycling event at the OVB Arena in Bremen last January, the decision to purchase was made.

Specifically, the N-RAY system that AVM added comprises 72 loudspeakers, and the company also added 15-inch-loaded SCN-F Low Frequency Extension modules as well as loudspeakers from the HOPS-Series (passive 2-way enclosures) that are compatible with N-RAY. These additions now make AVM the largest provider of CODA Audio in Germany.

The onset of the pandemic delayed N-RAY’s appearance for AVM until October when the Volksbank staged a corporate event at the Three-Fields Sportshall in Rheden, Germany. AVM deployed eight N-RAY per side to deliver the coverage.

“The event was a complete success,” states Matthias Kuhl, Sales and Marketing Mangager at AVM. “The customer was extremely satisfied with the sound and the high resolution speech intelligibility.”

It’s uncertain as to when the sound provider will next be able to deploy its new CODA inventory, but Kühl remains optimistic: “Every crisis also offers opportunity, so we’re taking on the current situation and have already found some good solutions and approaches to staying operational, and bringing colleagues back from short-time working. There will be hardly any major events in the next six months — the market will concentrate on hybrid events because special times call for special measures. We’re prepared for this, and with an inventory of 170 CODA Audio speakers and 23 amplifiers, are perfectly equipped for the restart.”
