Genelec Presents M040 Bi-Amplified Active Monitors

Genelec (Booth 5968, Hall B) offers its M040 Bi-amplified Active Monitors, part of Genelec’s energy-efficient M Series.

The M040 employs a Natural Composite Enclosure (NCE) manufactured for Genelec in Finland from wood fiber and recyclable material.

The M040 uses Genelec’s enclosure design heritage, featuring rounded edges and gently curved front and sides to provide minimized cabinet edge diffraction and imaging.

The M040 also utilizes a Laminar Integrated Port (LIP) for accurate low-frequency response and minimizing the enclosure vibration and employs an integrated advanced Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW), yielding large internal volumes with mechanical strength.

The M040 employs a 6.5-inch woofer with a one-inch metal dome tweeter, powered by an 80-Watt and 50-Watt amplifier respectively. The free-field frequency response is 48Hz-20kHz (+/-3dB), while low distortion peak SPL is 107dB at one meter. The M040 measures 13.25-inches H (337mm) x 9.25-inches W (235mm) x 9-inches D (229mm) and weighs 15.4 lbs (7.4kg).

The M040 features class D amplifiers developed in-house by Genelec’s R&D/engineering team. The class D amplifiers are efficient, low distortion amplifiers that operate cooler and lighter than class A/B amps. They also feature Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) power management with auto power-off/auto power-on and with standby power consumption of less than 0.5W. Automatic voltage selection allows the monitors to operate throughout the world. Additionally, the M040 has intuitive room response controls for system calibration as well as XLR/TRS and unbalanced RCA inputs.

The Genelec M040 Bi-amplified Active Monitor is now available with a U.S. MSRP of $895.00 each.
