Genelec Offering “The Ones” Series Of Compact Coaxial Active Monitors

Package includes 8351A 3-way Smart Active Monitor joined by the new 8341A and 8331A 3-way coaxial monitors to form a compact coaxial range for near-field monitoring.

At NAB 2018, Genelec (booth C4742) is showcasing The Ones, with the 8351A 3-way Smart Active Monitor joined by the new 8341A and 8331A 3-way coaxial monitors to form a compact coaxial range for near-field monitoring.

The Ones are designed to deliver neutral reproduction, with a reduction in unnatural imaging helping to curb listener fatigue. In addition, Genelec’s Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) is combined with the precision of The Ones’ concealed dual woofer design for less “colored” reflections.

Like the 8351A, both the 8341A and 8331A can be orientated horizontally or vertically using an adjustable IsoPod base for isolation, offering flexibility to fit very tight working environments. The 8341A and 8331A have been re-engineered to meet the challenges of their compact dimensions — 13.8 x 9.3 x 9.6 inches for the 8341A and 11.8 x 7.4 x 8.7 inches for the 8331A.

Other developments include a motor assembly that sees both the midrange and the tweeter share the same compact magnet system, reducing size and weight. The unique midrange coaxial driver cone is now composed of concentric sections designed to optimizes midrange linearity in tandem with the DCW, which covers the entire front face of the enclosure.

Each unit incorporates three stages of dedicated Class D amplification, developed in-house by Genelec and including proprietary Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) energy-saving technology.

Short-term maximum output capacities for each of the models are stated as 110 dB SPL for the 8341A (at 1m), and 104 dB SPL for the 8331A (at 1m), with accuracy quoted as better than ±1.5 dB, and respective frequency responses starting at 45 Hz and 38 Hz (-6 dB) and extending beyond 40 kHz both for the analog and digital inputs.

“The number of big ideas contained within these small monitors is truly remarkable, but no list of features can ever match up to the experience of simply listening to them,” commented Genelec Managing Director Siamäk Naghian. “For professionals worldwide, the 8351A has already become the trusted standard for its neutrality and its smooth frequency response both on- and off-axis. Now that same precision and three-way performance is available to everyone. With the 8341A and 8331A, the size of your studio is no longer a barrier to the size of your ambition.”
