Genelec Hosting Online Masterclass With Noted Producer/Engineer Sylvia Massy This Thursday (January 20)

Massy, joined by associate Chris Johnson, will discuss and demonstrate models from her growing college of vintage and rare microphones in livestream kicking off at 1 pm U.S. Eastern time.

Genelec is hosting an online Masterclass session titled “Live from the No-Kill Microphone Shelter” — featuring noted producer/engineer Sylvia Massy and her associate Chris Johnson — this coming Thursday, January 20 beginning at 1 pm U.S. Eastern time. Go here to access the session, which will be livestreamed Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn.

The conversation, which will moderated by Genelec senior technical sales manager Paul Stewart, will feature demonstration examples from Massy’s growing collection of vintage and rare microphones. Massy and Johnson will be located in their studio in Oregon that they joking refer to as the “no-kill microphone shelter.” Audience questions will be taken and answered as well.

Massy is noted for her work with Tool, System of a Down, Prince and Johnny Cash, and she’s also received more than 25 gold and platinum records as well as awards for her work with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sevendust and Tom Petty. A large portion of her collection was acquired from the late microphone expert Bob Paquette, and recently she retained ownership of several dozen vintage microphones from the Ukraine.

Massy also owns a Genelec immersive Atmos 7.1.4 system, consisting of 8351B, 8341A, W371A, 7380 and 9301 models at her personal mix room in Oregon.

Again, go here to access the livestreamed session this Thursday.
