Firehouse Productions Serves NBA All-Star Weekend With JBL VTX & Crown I-Tech

Madison Square Garden in New York City and the Barclays Center in Brooklyn recently hosted the NBA All-Star Weekend, with Firehouse Productions (Red Hook, NY) providing sound reinforcement systems at both venues incorporating Harman’s JBL Professional VTX and VerTec line arrays and Crown Audio I-Tech HD amplifiers.

At Madison Square Garden, which hosted both the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game as well as the All-Star Game, the Firehouse Productions system was comprised of four arrays of 15 VTX V25 loudspeakers each plus one array of 10 V25 loudspeakers, all hung from the ceiling and situated around the main scoreboard.

The system also included 12 VTX G28 ground-stacked subwoofers and 16 VerTec VT4886 subcompact loudspeakers for fills. All loudspeakers were driven by more than 60 Crown I-Tech 4x3500HD and a dozen Crown I-Tech 12000HD amplifiers, with monitoring and control handled via JBL’s HiQnet Performance Manager software.

The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, which hosted a range of events during the weekend, Firehouse provided six arrays of 15 VerTec VT4889 full-size loudspeakers plus 16 VT4886 subcompact loudspeakers for fills.

“When fans from around the world converge in New York City to see the very best talent the NBA has to offer, there is no margin for error when it comes to the technology, so we chose the JBL line arrays and Crown amps based on our success in numerous high-profile events in the past,” said Mark Dittmar, VP of design and engineering, Firehouse Productions. “The Harman components performed exceptionally in Madison Square Garden and the Barclays Center, and all the events that comprised the NBA All-Star Weekend were a tremendous success.”
