FaitalPRO Introduces Two New Neodymium Compression Drivers

FaitalPRO has introduced two new neodymium compression drivers, the HF146 and HF106.

The new HF146 driver is a “technologically evolved” version of the current HF144 model, offering a more linear frequency response and different tonal balance. (Note that the HF144 is still available.)

The HF146 has an AES power rating of 80 watts (maximum power 160 watts), sensitivity of 109 dB (1W/1m), and suggested crossover frequency of 0.9 kHz (12 dB/oct.).

Like the HF144, the magnet assembly of the HF146 uses 15 neodymium “slugs” instead of the classic ring, and the two models share the same dimensions and weight.

A linear response curve and high power dissipation allow the HF146 to be used in a wide range of professional applications, such as large line arrays and multi-way acoustic enclosures. It can also be used with horns or waveguides with a standard 1.4-inch connection.

Meanwhile, the new HF106 is a neodymium version of the current ferrite version HF107, offering a fully annular design from the diaphragm to the phase plug for a smooth, extended frequency response that extends past 20 kHz.

The new HF106 also uses a 44 mm voice coil and circuit with a neodymium ring magnet, and ends up weighing just a shadow over one kg. The AES power rating is 60 watts (maximum power is 120 watts), sensitivity is 110 dB (1W/1m), and the suggested crossover frequency is 1.3 kHz (12 dB/oct).

The HF106 can be used with horns or waveguides with a standard 1-inch connection, and as with most FaitalPRO compression drivers, it is suitable for applications such as medium to large line array systems in a two-way enclosure with 10- or 12-inch loudspeakers.

Unlike the HF107, the HF106 allows the replacement of the recone-kit, directly from the back, without having to dismount the driver from the horn. The driver has an aluminum cover for good heat dissipation to help enhance long-term reliability.
