Event-Net GmbH & Creativsound In Germany Invest In Alcons Audio LR24

Two companies team up to add 32 of the mid-size line array elements, and together with ILS Medientechnik GmbH, the three entities are supporting each other by renting out Alcons components via The Ribbon Network.

Creativsound in Berlin and Event-Net GmbH in Halle/Saale recently invested in 32 Alcons Audio LR24 mid-size line array elements, and together with ILS Medientechnik GmbH from Leipzig, the three partners are supporting each other by renting out Alcons components via The Ribbon Network.

“Uwe Biesgen [of Creativesound] and I tackled the LR24 investment together,” states Kay Schöttner, managing director of Event-Net GmbH. “For several years we’ve been working with The Ribbon Network platform in such a way that our companies and ILS Medientechnik GmbH from Leipzig help each other out with Alcons products if necessary. Since we all have different systems in stock, we complement each other well.”

The LR24, a 3-way, double 12-inch bi-amplified mid-size line array system that’s equipped with Alcons’ multi-patented pro-ribbon technology for mid and high frequencies, is designed to provide wide dynamic range and fast impulse response with less distortion.

In his capacity as a front of house engineer and system technician, Biesgen has overseen several productions with the LR28 double 14-inch larger-format line-array modules with success. “However, it is too large for many of our applications,” he notes. “Therefore, the desire arose to have a smaller system available that would bridge the gap between the LR18 double 8-inch compact line array module and LR28.

“In addition, the ‘little brother’ of the LR28 should be more economical to operate, i.e., with fewer amplifier channels and, if possible, NL8 cabling. The basis for this is the new 12-inch driver, which allows both 12-inch00000.0000000 drivers to be supplied with just one amplifier channel. The reduction in sound pressure that was to be expected when the woofer chassis was doubled and the amplifier output was the same could be eliminated impressively by increasing the efficiency.”

The three cooperative partners have put their new additions to work on project such as the Open Air Festival 2022 in Bremerhaven, where Biesgen chose a setup consisting of 10 LR24/90 and two LR24/120 per side for the main stage as well as a bass array consisting of 20 BC543 triple 18-inch subwoofers with cardioid characteristics for more 0even distribution.

“The passive filtering of the midrange and high frequency unit, supported by the complex DSP algorithms of the four 2.5 kW Sentinel 10 amplifiers, saved another channel. As a positive result, the NL8 cables that we already had could be re-used. Another advantage of the LR24 is that the LR24 is equipped with the same excellent rigging system as the LR28 double 14-inch larger-format line array modules,” says Biesgen. “The LR24 offers unimagined possibilities, it reacts to the finest nuances from the console and delivers powerful low-mids with warmth and in the highs absolute clarity.”
