Euphonix S5 Fusion Makes the Grade For Webster University Technical Audio Program

"The high quality audio and the versatility of the Fusion combine to make it the ideal centerpiece to our renovated studio." - Gary Gottlieb, Webster University

Euphonix has announced that Missouri-based Webster University, an internationally recognized private liberal arts school, has installed a Euphonix S5 Fusion for its Audio Engineering and Communications program.

The 16-fader S5 Fusion is a complete professional mixing package that provides a fusion of Euphonix’ new processing DSP engine with EuCon, a high-speed Ethernet control protocol that enable the console surface to control its own DSP channels as well as channels from multiple external DAWs simultaneously allowing students to quickly learn and operate various software applications in a real studio setting for both music and audio post production.

“When we considered all the options to upgrade our digital studio, and the Euphonix S5 Fusion emerged as the obvious choice. The high quality audio and the versatility of the Fusion combine to make it the ideal centerpiece to our renovated studio,” explained Gary Gottlieb, Program Coordinator and Associate Professor of Audio Production, Webster University. “I love the flexibility within the console, offering every option we need, as well as the flexibility in the way it integrates all our existing software and hardware.”

“The room needed to be not only a Mastering Studio, but also a venue in which to teach surround sound engineering,” said Lee Buckalew, Webster University Adjunct Professor and President of Pro Sound Advice, the company tapped to integrate the Euphonix into the studio. “When Pro Sound Advice, in conjunction with Ozark Pro Audio and Video, laid out all the options to university officials, without hesitation they picked the S5 Fusion. Its tight digital integration and future expandability made the console the ideal choice.”

“The S5 Fusion was only way to go. It’s everything we wanted; it sounds phenomenal; it’s able to run any of our software applications,” explained Paul Hennerich, Freelance Engineer and Adjunct Professor for Webster University. “The main goal of our Audio Production program is to prepare students for any audio situation they may come across, that’s why here at Webster we train students on Pro Tools, Nuendo, and Final Cut and the S5 Fusion can seamlessly switch between them all making it fun both fun to teach and learn.”

Webster University currently has 20,000 students enrolled at more than 100 campus locations throughout the United States and around the world,
