eAcoustics Debuts RAVEN 500A Active Loudspeaker

Large-format design incorporates drivers from B&C and Faital Pro with onboard amplification from Powersoft.

The new RAVEN 500A from eAcoustics is a large-format active loudspeaker with dual B&C 12-inch neodymium transducers behind a column array of nine Faital Pro drivers, all driven by onboard Powersoft amplification.

The 6-port bass reflex design contributes to a stated low-frequency response of 70 Hz, with overall maximum SPL specified as 137 dB and maximum throw of 1,000 feet. Dispersion is 120 degrees x 10 degrees (h x v).

The Powersoft amplifier delivers 1,500 watts to the 12-inch drivers and 750 watts to the high-frequency array, with another 750 watts available via an external output. The amplifier includes Power Factor Correction (PFC) that optimizes incoming AC and synchronizes the voltage to the current to reduce both heat and energy consumption.

Factory presets are provided for a variety of configurations, with further control available via Powersoft Armonia over USB.

The tour-grade enclosure is constructed of multi-ply Birch hardwood with a PolyTec (polyurethane) outer skin offering UV and moisture protection. The latching SureLoc accommodates flying up to five RAVEN loudspeakers or ground-stacking up to two RAVENS on top of the company’s REX dual 18-inch subwoofer or GORILLA single 18-inch sub.
