DiGiGrid Highlighting New Desktop Series At Prolight + Sound 2016

At the Prolight + Sound show in Frankfurt, DiGiGrid continues its focus on the I/O market with the highlight of four products in the new Desktop Series, launched earlier this year.

The range includes the [Q] Headphone amplifier, [D] Desktop interface, [M] Musician recording interface, and [S] PoE Switch.

The Desktop Series maintains the core design principles of DiGiGrid’s networkable solutions, and audio reproduction; they also allow for integration with any other DiGiGrid product. Whether used as a stand-alone item, or as part of bigger systems, this new Desktop range offers all the benefits of the SoundGrid network system.

The [Q] Headphone amplifier measures 90 mm cubed and has been designed to drive high headphones volume, and is fully controllable. Coupled with an AES/EBU interface, it allows a direct digital interface loud enough for even drummers.

[Q] hass 1/4-inch and 3.5mm outputs, so can accommodate in-ear or headphone products, and has four input options: XLR (for professional use), Ethernet/Cat-5 (to connect to the SoundGrid Network for true audio networking, should it be required), Analog (for the consumer audiophile), and Bluetooth.

The [M] Musician recording interface has two inputs and two outputs, and it also measures 90 mm cubed. It’s designed to be “plug and play,” with simultaneous monitoring and recording capabilities through two dedicated I/O. Input one is a dedicated mic/line, and input two is instrument/line, which allows for many musical combinations. Audio capture is available with converters and mic preamps, and there’s a dedicated high-power headphone output. An optional mic-stand adapter plate that works with both [M] and [Q] is offered as well.

Designed in much the same way as [M] and [Q], the DiGiGrid [D] is a more expansive option. With four inputs rather than two, and six outputs, [D] provides greater flexibility in all applications. Inputs one and two are mic/line, and three and four are line/instrument. There are two outputs with level control—well-suited for monitoring—and two further fixed level line outputs..

Finally, the DiGiGrid [S] is a fixed networkable power source. It offers one upstream (non-PoE) port and four downstream PoE ports that allows connection to four further DiGiGrid devices. [S] is also Dante compatible, to complement to growing networked audio systems now and in the future.

“DiGiGrid products are synonymous with sonic quality and exceptional networking capability. By combining these qualities with an ultra-compact footprint and attractive price point, the Desktop series brings these qualities to a much wider user base,” says DiGiGrid’s Mick Anderson. “From professional engineers right through to project studios, and those who just want to enjoy recorded music at its best, the Desktop series is designed to be the ideal solution.”
