Next week, the newest and largest member of the dBTechnologies VIO Series will be touching down in the United States for the first time ever. After a successful nationwide tour with the artist Caparezza in Italy, the VIO L212 is coming to Las Vegas on October 19 and 20 for the LDI: Live Outside event at the 2018 Lighting Design International (LDI) Show.
The VIO L212 elevates the series and complements a line array series or system already proven to be perfectly suited for large-scale tours and festivals.
“From 2016 when dBTechnologies first launched the VIO Series with the L210 and S318, the most common next requests were for a smaller compact box as well as a large format tour box to further expand the series. Since launching in early 2018, the dual 8-inch VIO L208 has been a great complement to the L210, and a massive success. Now we finally have the large format three-way active VIO L212 in the series. This is a big step for the dBTechnologies brand,” says Colin Studybaker, national sales manager for dBTechnologies in the U.S.
VIO L212 is a three-way active line array module equipped with 2×12-inch woofers placed in a dipolar arrangement on the outside to provide an accurate transient response, as well as an extended and controlled low-end reproduction.
The cylindrical wavefront of the system was meticulously designed for maximum high frequency directivity control, and the horn-loaded midrange improves both acoustic efficiency and coverage accuracy.
“VIO L212 is the best of all worlds,” says Megan Recio, U.S. marketing manager, “Not only is it designed specifically with tours in mind, but it also has the power of Aurora Net behind it, allowing for a powerful – and highly controllable – performance all around.”
Coming in at under 120 lbs per box, and equipped with NFC proximity sensors and the same three-point rigging system of the other members of the VIO family, the attention to usability in the construction of the VIO L212 reflects the usability that dBTechnologies is known for.
“The Live Outside demo will really allow VIO L212 to speak for itself. This event will be the perfect opportunity for our U.S.-based users to hear what all of the excitement for the system from overseas has been about. It has been on a summer-long tour in Italy as well as a festival, and just last month it was demonstrated in Bali for our distributors there. Now it is North America’s turn, and we’re excited,” says Studybaker.
dBTechnologies will be demonstrating in the LDI: Live Outside event outside of the Las Vegas Convention Center on Friday, October 19 at 12:30pm and 3:00pm and Saturday, October 20 at 11:30am, 2:00pm and 5:30pm.
dBTechnologies will also be featuring DVX DM 12 TH and DVX DM 15 TH wedges, as well as the new VIO S218 subs.
