The new d&b audiotechnik M6 stage monitor offers a 12-inch coaxial design, with the visual design of the company’s M4 monitor adapted to reduce the profile.
The amplifier configuration also has specific characteristics to give the M6 a performance completely compatible with M4 in both gain and sound character in the frequency band above 180 Hz.
The low-profile, two-way M6 employs an integrated 12-inch/1.3-inch-exit coaxial driver with a CD horn and passive crossover network.
The M6 distinguishes itself with its midrange presence and a dry,compact low end. It’s 50-degree x 80-degree coverage, combined with feedback stability, high sensitivity and discreet design, ensures the M6 lines up with both the M4 and M2 monitors.
When powered by the D6, the M6 delivers 132 dB SPL and powered by the D12 it achieves 135 dB SPL in passive mode.
It can optionally be operated in two-way active mode by changing the D12’s configuration without any modifications to the loudspeaker and achieves an SPL of 138 dB SPL. Weight is 35 pounds, and dimensions are 486 mm (19.1-inch) x 455 mm (18-inch) and a height of 332 mm (13.1-inch)
Enclosures are equipped with integrated handles, M10 threaded inserts and a hidden socket to accept a loudspeaker stand. Recessed runners in the bottom panel protect the cabinet from scratching and reduce movement. Used in an upright position, the M6 can also serve as a PA loudspeaker suitable for a variety of smaller applications.
Firmware and software updates including the M6 are available for download under the relevant sections within the support/downloads section at www.dbaudio.com. These provide configurations for all current d&b amplifiers and the latest version of R1 Remote control software.
