D.A.S. Audio Launches New Vantec Series Portable Loudspeakers

Offered in both active and passive versions

D.A.S. Audio has launched the new Vantec Series of portable loudspeaker systems, and they’ll be on display at the upcoming 2015 NAMM Show in Anaheim at booth 7101 (in the arena).

The Vantec Series is comprised of four models, available in both powered and passive configurations. Two 2-way models are available with either a 12- or 15-inch woofer, a 3-way model incorporates dual 15-inch woofers in a “dual-band” configuration, and a subwoofer is equipped with a single 18-inch woofer.

All models incorporate the company’s new F Series drivers that deliver enhanced performance and reliability. The new M-28 compression driver has an FEM (Finite Element Modeling) optimized motor, phase-plug and diaphragm. Attached to the D.A.S.-designed constant directivity horn, the assembly provides exceptional high-frequency reproduction and tight control of the 90- by 50-degree dispersion.

The Vantec 12A offers a 12-inch F Series woofer, and it’s biamplified, powered by a 2-channel amplifier providing 1,500 watts of continuous power. Frequency response is stated as 60 Hz to 20 kHz, with maximum peak SPL of 135 dB. The Vantec 15A, equipped with a 15-inch F Series woofer, has a stated frequency response of 45 Hz to 20 kHz.

The Vantec 215A, loaded with twin 15-inch F Series woofers, carries a 3-channel amplifier offering 750 watts per channel of continuous power, for a total of 2,250 watts continuous. It’s dual-band configuration has each woofer operating in a specific frequency range.

The Vantec 18A has a single 18-inch F Series woofer driven by a 2,000-watt (peak) Class D amplifier with switch-mode power supply and digital signal processing. The amp has a unique EQ switch that allows selection of a “Deep” or “Loud” bass response.

The Vantec 18A also includes two balanced inputs with stereo filtered output connections for satellite systems. The variable crossover ranges from 80 Hz-125 Hz, and can be defeated to offer stereo “loop thru” connections. A gain control and polarity reverse feature increase user control.

Signal processing for Vantec Series models is accomplished by a powerful DSP that includes. Digital Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filtering. Users can select configurations from a wide range of voicing, filter and EQ modes, and gain control by way of a rotary-knob interface and LCD screen on the rear of the cabinet. Bluetooth technology allows users to wirelessly stream music from any Bluetooth-enabled device.

Cabinets are constructed of birch plywood covered with a durable ISO-flex coating. Both the 12-inch and 15-inch 2-way systems have dual angle pole mount sockets (0 and 10 degrees), as well as angled side panels for stage monitoring applications. Rigging points, ergonomic handles with rubber inserts, and a rugged front grille provide for a wide range of uses in both portable and installed applications.
