D.A.S. Audio Features Components For Multiple Systems At Winter Music Conference (WMC)

The annual WMC, which just completed its 24th year, is regarded as the singular networking event in the dance music industry, attracting professionals from over 70 different countries

Attracting a total audience of more than 3,500, with a high concentration of top international artists, DJs, and industry professionals among them, this year’s WMC was hosted at the Miami Beach Resort and offered workshops, competitions, panel discussions, an exhibit area, and an awards ceremony.

Carlos Henao, audio engineer and owner of Miami-based Paradise Production Services, served as Technical Director for this year’s gathering, noting that D.A.S. Audio loudspeakers were key components in several systems serving all major performance venues and workshops during the conference-including the International Dance Music Awards.

D.A.S. Audio also participated in the two-day trade exhibit and, there, showed its new Avant Series loudspeakers developed for performing musicians, DJ’s, and other portable applications.

At the Miami Beach Resort’s entrance lobby, there was non-stop music by various DJ’s, where Henao and his crew deployed D.A.S. Audio Variant loudspeakers in a left-right stereo configuration. Each side consisted of one Variant 112A powered array-as a top box-coupled with two Variant 18A powered subwoofers.

By the pool, where there was continuous music, including DJ spin-off competitions, Henao’s team placed a sizeable D.A.S. Aero line arrays, including Aero CA-28A compact powered line arrays flown six elements per side, paired with a sub bass setup encompassing seven Aero CA-215A powered subwoofers and another seven LX-218 powered subwoofers. “There was a considerable amount of high profile activity at this location, including the International Dance Music Awards,” added Henao.”

At the hotel’s Vista Room, which was the home to several of the workshops and conferences, Henao placed D.A.S. Audio SML-15A and SML-12A powered stage monitors on tripods and augmented these with four D.A.S. Sub-18HA powered subwoofers.

Similarly, for several panel discussions that occurred during the WMC, the sound reinforcement system included D.A.S. DR-112A and DR-115A powered loudspeakers. And for the WMC’s VJ Challenge-a competition for video DJ’s-Henao’s team deployed a D.A.S. system consisting of four DR-115A powered loudspeakers (two per side) paired with two Sub-18HA subwoofers (one per side) in a stereo configuration.

“Our client was extremely happy and impressed with the sound of every system,” says Henao. “They weren’t initially familiar with the D.A.S. name, but their impression now is extremely favorable. Already, they’re looking forward to D.A.S. Audio’s involvement next year.”
