CODA Audio N-RAY Makes Polish Debut At Olsztyn Culture Centre

Tommex deploys country's first N-RAY arrays joined by SCN-F low-frequency elements and more in new multipurpose hall with a capacity of up to 700.

The Centre for Education and Cultural Initiatives in the Polish city of Olsztyn recently underwent a modernization program that included the development of a new concert hall at the venue that’s equipped with the first CODA Audio N-RAY arrays deployed in Poland.

Audio specialist Tommex was engaged to develop range of technical systems, one of which was the new stage audio system for the multi-purpose hall. With a seated capacity of 414, the hall’s seats can be removed to create standing room for 700. Tommex designed and installed a front of house system based on the N-RAY arrays to deliver uniform coverage for whichever way the venue is configured, offering variable horizontal coverage of 90, 120 or asymmetric 105 degrees and variable vertical curving in 0, 1, 2, 3 to 12 degrees in 1-degree steps.

The system at the hall comprises dual N-RAY eight-module arrays and joined by two SCN-F low-frequency extensions per side with four D5 CUBE loudspeakers supplying frontfill. Two more SCV-F subs were supplied and can be added to the system as required. CODA Audio CUE Series wedges can be deployed for stage monitoring with the compact CUE FOUR selected for its added flexibility.

“This was our first installation of CODA Audio N-RAY,” says Tommex commercial director Marcin Zimny. “It was chosen for its fantastic ratio of size to performance, while its ability to provide asymmetrical coverage helped us overcome reflections from the centre’s walls. The client is very happy indeed with the new system which comfortably meets all the venue’s requirements with headroom to spare.”

David Webster, global marketing director for CODA Audio, adds, “We’re delighted to see Tommex deliver their first N-RAY installation in Poland. I’ve no doubt that it will be the first of many such installs in similar environments as customers become increasingly familiar with the advantages it can bring to often challenging spaces.”
