Chapters 1 & 2 Of “Everything You Wanted To Know About Subwoofers” Guide Now Available For Free Download

Kickoff of series with the authors of Live Sound International and ProSoundWeb presenting the evolution, designs, configurations and more of sub-bass systems for live sound reinforcement.

The first two chapters of the new guide “Everything You Wanted To Know About Subwoofers” is now available as a free download (PDF) on ProSoundWeb (here).

Presented by Fulcrum Acoustic, the series features top authors from ProSoundWeb and Live Sound International providing their insights on the evolution, designs, configurations and more of sub-bass systems for live sound reinforcement.

The series will offer six (6) chapters in total, all available as free downloads, over the coming weeks, with the authors sharing their decades of professional audio experience with this vital and interesting topic.

Chapter 1 is entitled “It’s All About The Bass,” with Andy Coules presenting key development milestones as well as facts and theories about subwoofers and the low end of the frequency spectrum. Meanwhile, in Chapter 2 entitled “Moving Air,” Craig Leerman looks inside subwoofer designs and configurations in the quest to deliver LF energy with maximum impact and control.

Note that both chapters are provided in the same PDF document for added convenience.

Subsequent chapters will address key subjects such as subwoofer location, the “power alley,” the aux-fed sub technique, sub arrays, and more. The final installment is authored by noted loudspeaker designer David Gunness of Fulcrum Acoustic, who will provide the inside scoop on the company’s new passive cardioid technology.
