By PSW Staff • November 9, 2016 John DeGolyer (Jack) Maxson Noted mix engineer and production entepreneur John DeGolyer (Jack) Maxson, who founded (with business partner Rusty Brutsche) Showco, which became one of the top sound companies in the world, passed away in late October at the age of 76. Showco’s client list included The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Sir Paul McCartney and Wings, James Taylor, and many others. Maxson also was a founder of Vari*Lite in the mid-1980s, which developed one of the first automated changeable color lighting systems for the stage. The company proved quite successful, including being honored with three Emmy Awards. Learn more about the life of Jack Maxson here. The memorial service will be held at Saint Michael and All Angels Church, 8011 Douglas Ave., Dallas, on Wednesday, November 16 at 11 am.
