TransAudio Group is now offering the Telefunken sound to its clients through a new partnership with the Connecticut-based microphone manufacturer.

TransAudio Group will focus on Telefunken Elektroakustik’s flagship Diamond Series, which includes the ELA M 251E, U47, and C12 large-diaphragm condensers, as well as the ELA M 260 small-diaphragm condenser.

For the fraction of the price of a vintage unit, Telefunken Elektroakustik has recreated the original 1950’s era microphones. Offering interchangeable parts and sonics of vintage models, and faithful recreations of these originals has been Telefunken’s goal from the beginning.

“Telefunken Elektroakustik invested heavily in the up-front R&D to get it right,” says Brad Lunde, founder and president of TransAudio Group. “They have put together a highly-skilled engineering team backed by a zero-compromise manufacturing facility, with all the pieces necessary to recreate the mission critical core components that add up in the sonic character of the vintage originals.

“In-house ‘by hand’ production of key elements, such as capsules and power supplies, plus extensive reverse engineering of many of the mechanics and electronic sub components, such as transformers and tubes, have enabled Telefunken to deliver what has only been dreamed about before. The unique set of mechanical and circuit values are what scale up to the ‘vintage Telefunken sound,’ and there is simply no way to achieve this level of sonic performance without painstaking piece-by-piece, purpose-built work.”

Lunde continues, “Telefunken Elektroakustik’s goal with the Diamond Series is to capture the exact sound of the original models; it’s not ‘their take on’ or ‘inspired by’ the original models. Even the look, the packaging, and the shockmount matches the originals. And of course, these new pieces are vastly more reliable and affordable than vintage units, and they’re backed by Telefunken Elektroakustik’s ‘everything-for-the-customer’ service guarantee. We’re very proud to bring these products into the TransAudio Group family.”

The ELA M 251E, U47, C12, and ELA M 260 are available and ready for shipping.
