Safety at big events is a subject of great relevance for the entire live-entertainment sector. The ‘International Event Safety & Security Conference’ (I-ESC) brings together renowned speakers to discuss topical questions on avoiding hazards and dangers. The coming I-ESC at Prolight + Sound on 3 April 2019 will be distinguished by some important changes.

More than ever before, this year’s I-ESC will emphasize the direct and open exchange of ideas and information between speakers and participants. Additionally, the program will be held for the first time in English with a simultaneous translation into German. The German Entertainment Technology Association (VPLT) is responsible for the program.

Also new is the venue: I-ESC is moving to the ‘Circle Stage’ in Hall 4.0 and will thus be nearer the focal point of Prolight + Sound. After a half-hour keynote lecture by Donald Cooper (Event Safety Alliance, USA), the program will alternate between panel discussions and expert lectures with question and answer sessions. In the networking breaks, there will be numerous short presentations on important topics related to event safety and security.

The highlights of the I-ESC:

Panel: State of Affairs – Event Safety Today: An International Perspective;

Panel: Safe and Secure? – The Role Psychology Plays at Your Event;

Panel: The Biggest Threat to Event Safety: Why No One Should Be Proud to Work a 12-Hour Shift

Presentation: The Fundamentals of Crowd Management: Tim Roberts, The Event Safety Shop, UK/USA

Presentation: Safety Awareness Education: The EU Erasmus + ETTE Project: Chris van Goethem, STEPP; Belgium

Presentation: Weather Contingency Planning: Sharon Satz, ETH Zurich

Randell Greenlee (VPLT) will host the event. Detailed programs, information about the speakers and lecture content, including the short presentations in the networking breaks can be found here.

Participation in the I-ESC is free of charge for all Prolight + Sound visitors.
