The new "Made in the USA" Pro Marine megaphone, model WP609R, from AmpliVox Sound Systems.

AmpliVox Sound Systems has introduced the new “Made in the USA” Pro Marine megaphone, model WP609R, that is designed to be completely waterproof and dustproof. Its rugged construction provides reliable communication for a wide range of applications.

The Pro Marine megaphone is constructed of high-impact polycarbonate material, engineered to meet IP67 (Ingress Protection Standard) for dust and water submersion. The unit is so watertight that it will float if dropped in the water, but can still operate even when submerged for up to 30 minutes.

To protect against cracks and damage, the Pro Marine megaphone includes shock-absorbing rubber cushions on the front edge and back as well as wrap-around handles. It is drop-tested to exceed MIL STD 810F 516.5 specifications for shock. The company states that it is the first and only American-made megaphone to meet these heightened standards.

The unit’s rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to eight hours of use, and an integrated charge indicator light lets users know when the battery is running low. A class D digital amplifier helps in delivering clear, powerful sound. Horn and siren functions are built in. The lightweight unit carries easily via a padded shoulder strap.

“The extreme durability of the Pro Marine makes it one of the most versatile megaphones available,” states Don Roth, AmpliVox CEO. “It can go anywhere and be used under the most extreme conditions. We’re proud to produce this ultra-reliable megaphone here in the United States, and we’re confident that it will be an indispensable tool for first responders, athletic and aquatic facilities, and many other customers that require rugged, dependable sound equipment.”
