Celestion has announced the availability of the latest additions to the FTX Series of common magnet motor coaxial loudspeakers, the 10-inch diameter FTX1025 and the 15-inch diameter FTX1530.
Both offer full-range frequency response in a single self-contained driver by concentrically aligning low and high frequency drivers, designed to provide improvements in signal alignment and off-axis response.
The common magnet motor assembly – in which the same magnet is used for both LF and HF elements—enables the voice coils and acoustic centers of the drivers to be brought very close together in order to enhance signal coherence and time alignment. The single magnet assembly also offers lowers both size and weight.
A polyimide film HF diaphragm is engineered for greater high frequency power handling. The proprietary, second-generation Sound Castle soft clamping assembly reduces stress on the diaphragm, providing less distortion and enhancing reliability. The HF and LF voice coils are edge wound using lightweight copper and copper clad aluminum with a close packing density to foster improved cooling, increased motor strength and more barrel stiffness.
In addition, demodulation rings are intended to minimize the effects of power compression along with substantially reducing harmonic and intermodulation commonly associated with voice coil displacement.
In addition to the new FTX1025 and FTX1530, the series also includes the 12-inch FTX1225, 8-inch FTX0820, and 6.5-inch FTX0617.
