California Community Church Upgrades With L-Acoustics KUDO Line Arrays

The Sa-rang Church in Anaheim chose Kudo for their house and monitor system.

California-based UBI-Tech recently installed an L-Acoustics KUDO line arrays at Sa-rang Community Church in Anaheim.

With its 80-member choir, 25-piece orchestra and two full praise teams for Korean and English services, the Korean megachurch is Orange County’s large and places a significant emphasis on its music ministry.

When the time came to update its aging PA setup, Sa-rang’s technical crew spent nearly four months researching what would be the best retrofit option for its 1,500-seat sanctuary.

“We listened to many different manufacturers’ loudspeakers, but the KUDO demo that Dan Palmer did for us at L-Acoustics’ facility in Oxnard was simply the clear winner,” said UBI-Tech Sound Designer Joseph Kim, who dually serves as Sa-rang’s FOH engineer.

“From then on, KUDO was our favorite choice.”

As a result, the decision was made to fly four L-Acoustics KUDO cabinets per side, plus a four-piece dV-DOSC array in between for front-fill.”

“Two SB28 per side are positioned beneath the KUDO hangs for LF reinforcement, with all loudspeakers powered by seven LA8 amplified controllers.

The church also upgraded its monitor system with the addition of five L-Acoustics coaxial 115XT HiQ enclosures for the praise teams and six L-Acoustics 12XT systems for the pastor, choir and sidefill. The monitors are driven by three LA4 amplified controllers.

“The system really has a lot of ‘muscle’, which is great because our praise teams like to run their levels fairly hot. Now they finally have a system that can keep up with them,” says Kim.
