In line with its planned expansion across all sectors of the professional sound industry, CADAC exhibited at InfoComm showcasing its CDC Eight and CDC Four digital mix platforms.
“The CDC Eight was very well received, with many sound engineers and installers declaring it to be the best product at the show,” explains Ben Millson, CADAC International Sales Manager. “The desk made a big impression with the worship sector, where installers, dealers and operators alike were extremely impressed with how user friendly the operating system was. Clearly this is a big potential market for this desk. The CDC Four was equally well received, with people amazed that we can offer a desk with CADAC mic pre-amps and up to 64 channels at 96kHz, inside of $15K.”
The CACAC team at the show conducted advanced negotiations with potential distributors across the Americas, including Brazil, Chile and Canada, as well as the Caribbean. As a result, demo units of both the CDC Eight and CDC Four will be going out to several of these territories in the next few weeks.
Reaction from CADAC’s traditional theatre sound base was especially positive with major engineers and designers committing to participating in future product development.
“There will be a CDC Eight at FOH on a major event in New York City in November,” said Millson, “Throughout the show Tom Bensen of RF Productions, our US distributor, ensured a constant stream of major US engineers and rental companies came onto the stand; so many people were really pleased to see CADAC back in such a big way with such brilliant new product.”
With the CDC Eight’s almost limitless configurability and expansive feature set, the desk provides CADAC a uniquely cost competitive, high performance digital offering; one that sonically and feature-wise compares favorably with its top of the range J-Type analog desks.
Supporting a very high input count on a desk with such a compact footprint – up to 128 input channels, expandable to a potential 256 using the input selection on each channel to sum two inputs together – the console has 40 configurable output busses which can be programmed as groups or matrixes. Additionally there are 16 internal VCA groups.
Operationally the CDC Eight offers a radical advance with its ‘high agility’ user interface featuring two 24 inch 16:10 HD touch-screen control surfaces; a third smaller LCD touch-screen is dedicated to system control and automation.
The console is available in 16 and 32 fader frame sizes; an expansion sidecar – the CDC-16S – connects with a single Ethernet cable and offers 16 additional fader and a further HD touch-screen control. With the addition of the CDC8-16S, shared FOH and monitor functions can be provided from a single CDC8-32 or CDC8-16 console, using a shared audio rack.
