beyerdynamic Revoluto Microphones Enhance Speech Intelligibility At German Federal Assembly

Proprietary vertical array microphone technology provides a larger area for speech reception, offers more freedom of movement, as well as mic sharing

The Federal Assembly, the constitutional body of the Federal Republic of Germany that’s headquartered in the former Prussian Manor House in Berlin, recently received an audio upgrade in the form of beyerdynamic Revoluto vertical array microphone technology.

Long-standing beyerdynamic partner Fleischbauer was commissioned to install more than 70 beyerdynamic Classis RM 31 Q microphones to enhance speech intelligibility while being inconspicuous and space-saving.

The horizontal polar pattern of the microphones provides a larger area for speech reception. People speaking do not have to adhere to one direction, and can move freely while still being heard. Two people can also share a single mic, which helps save on cost and space.

beyerdynamic’s Revoluto technology is comprised of several microphone capsules lined in a row to create a vertical array. The capsules also provide a “corridor characteristic” designed to upgrade voice quality. The Classis RM 31 Q can be used with beyerdynamic Quinta and Orbis microphone units.

The historic hall was nearly destroyed during World War II, but was thoroughly renovated between 1997 and 2000 during the country’s reconstruction. It’s noted for a high glass ceiling and plentiful daylight.
