The new TM2 from Audix is an earphone test and measurement coupler with an integrated preamp that’s designed to provide audio engineers and service departments with efficient and effective testing of in-ear monitors (IEMs) for potential damage and/or performance degradation.

The TM2 combines the functionality normally associated with bulky IEM testing equipment into a compact package that’s easy to carry and use. Specifically, IEM devices can often become damaged over time without users knowing, while monitor engineers can also face complaints about IEM functionality without a way to confirm an equipment problem. The TM2 is designed to help in adddressing these issues.

By pairing the TM2 with test and measurement software, a transfer function of an in-ear monitor can be generated and compared to previous measurements of the same device. Doing so will highlight any frequency or phase changes due to device damage or degradation over time. Comparing the performance of the left and right earpieces can also aid in troubleshooting.

With its included adaptors, the TM2 can fit any size of in-ear monitor. It can also be connected to an acoustic calibrator for added measurement precision.

The TM2, covered by a 3-year warranty, is housed in a durable, all-metal chassis. A calibration file is included. It’s shipping now.
