At the 2020 NAMM show in Anaheim, Audix has unveiled 14 new products – the most in the 30-plus year history of the company. The products, all designed from the ground up, include a line of headphones and in-ear monitors, four condenser microphones, a ribbon microphone and a reference microphone.
“It’s a new era for Audix,” states David Marsh, director of sales at Audix. “We’ve got a new generation of products for a new generation of producers, musicians, sound engineers and audiophiles.”
The new headphone line includes the A140, A145, A150 and A152. All models are closed-back, dynamic driver, fidelity headphones with detachable cable options. Each has a unique sonic profile for various uses, ranging from studio recording and broadcasting to hi-fi listening and gaming.
The new earphone line includes the A10 and A10X joined by A10-BT and A10X-BT models that have Bluetooth 5.0-enabled cables and an integrated microphone. The point source 10 mm drivers are designed to be phase coherent, and they’re supplied with cables with gold-plated MMCX connectors. The A10 is intended to serve as a detailed in-ear studio monitor while the A10X offers extended bass response.
The new large-diaphragm condenser series include the A131 and A133 fixed charge condenser models, along with the A135 and A137 true condenser models. All four have internally shock-mounted cardioid capsules. The A133 and A137 are equipped with pad and roll off switches, while the A160 is a transformer-based, passive, bidirectional ribbon microphone with no active electronic components based on the classic ribbon design. It doesn’t require phantom power. Finally, the A127 is a type one reference microphone with a 1/2-inch metal film omnidirectional capsule.
